March 2013 Results

Tara Walton of the Toronto Star and Aaron Lynett, a freelance photographer and former National Post staff photographer were the judges for March 2013 Photos of the Month.

Wonderful multiple picture entries!  Tough to judge!
Portraits was another strong category.
Feature category was very weak. Would like to have seen more found moments, weather photos etc...

BELLEVILLE, Ont. (12/03/13) - Nicole Lafferty, four, finds her 'secret place' in her bedroom. Lafferty shares a room with six of her sisters. All together there are eight Lafferty children. The Laffertys are always renovating the house but have a difficult time due to one income coming in. TRENTON, Ont. (14/11/2012) - Lex Duncan walks in his kitchen in Trenton, Ontario on November 14, 2012. Lex Duncan, 89, has been caring for his wife Mary Duncan, 88, in their Trenton home since she was diagnosed with dementia in 2008. Currently over 500,000 Canadians are living with dementia, but that number is expected to double within one generation. The care will often times fall on the family members - the husband, the wife, the son, the daughter or even the grandchildren. Lex Duncan, wouldn't have it any other way and neither would Mary Duncan. He believes he can give her the best care at home, however it's not easy. "You think you'll live forever and never have any problems," says Lex Duncan, "But life ain't quite like that." Photo by Marta Iwanek
